Over 95% of Australia’s imports and exports are transported by sea, but seafarers are ‘invisible’ to more than 95% of Australians.
Yet, without these men and women, just about everything we have in our homes and workplaces would not have arrived here for eventual sale. Seafarers make huge sacrifices for their families and can often be placed in harm’s way as they do so. Physical and psychological injuries are significantly higher among seafarers than among the general population.
For seafarers, The Mission to Seafarers exercises a ministry that is frequently, literally, ‘life-saving’.
In order to maintain our ministry, we – and the thousands of seafarers visiting Sydney each year - need your help. Helping us will make a real difference – we will be able to maintain our:
• Opening hours;
• Chaplaincy levels;
• Free internet service.
• Free, well-maintained, transport;
• Provisions of ‘best rate’ (= low profit) financial services.
The Mission to Seafarers is a Registered Charity under the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.
